Prandtl–Batchelor Flows on a Disk

چکیده
For steady two-dimensional flows with a single eddy (i.e. nested closed streamlines), Prandtl (1905) and Batchelor (1956) proposed that in the limit of vanishing viscosity vorticity is constant an inner region separated from boundary layer. In this paper, by constructing higher order approximate solutions Navier-Stokes equations establishing validity layer expansion, we give rigorous proof existence Prandtl-Batchelor on disk wall velocity slightly different rigid-rotation. The leading term flow solution rigid rotation) satisfying Batchelor-Wood formula.

Duality in Disk Induced Flows
We introduce a condition that establishes a duality known from Delaunay triangulations and Voronoi diagrams for diagrams associated with a class of dynamical systems defined via a set of disks in the plane. Under this condition the maximum geometric and worst case algorithmic complexities of the latter diagrams decrease. The condition is natural in the sense that it is automatically fulfilled b...
متن کاملNonlinear Scale Invariance in Local Disk Flows
An exact nonlinear scaling transformation is presented for the local three-dimensional dynamical equations of motion for differentially rotating disks. The result is relevant to arguments that have been put forth claiming that numerical simulations lack the necessary numerical resolution to resolve nonlinear instabilities that are supposedly present. We show here that any time dependent velocit...
متن کاملBoundary Layers and Heat Transfer on a Rotating Rough Disk
The study of flow and heat transfer over rotating circular disks is of great practical importance in understanding the cooling of rotatory machinery such as turbines, electric motors and design and manufacturing of computer disk drives. This paper presents an analysis of the flow and heat transfer over a heated infinite permeable rough disk. Boundary-layer approximation reduces the elliptic Nav...
متن کاملAdvection Dominated Accretion Flows. a Toy Disk Model
A toy model of a disk undergoing steady state accretion onto a black hole is presented. The disk is in a hydrostatic equilibrium for all radii r > rin, with the inner disk radius located between the marginally stable and marginally bound orbits: rms > rin > r mb. Matter flows from the disk through a narrow cusp at rms and falls freely into the black hole, carrying with it no thermal energy. At ...
متن کاملFast direct solver for the biharmonic equation on a disk and its application to incompressible flows
We develop a simple and efficient FFT-based fast direct solver for the biharmonic equation on a disk. The biharmonic equation is split into a coupled system of harmonic problems. We first use the truncated Fourier series expansion to derive a set of coupled singular ODEs, then we solve those singular equations by second-order finite difference discretizations. Using a radial grid with shifting ...
